Enochville Elementary School is located in the southern tip of Rowan County and is surrounded by Cabarrus and Iredell Counties. The community takes its name from Saint Enoch Lutheran Church, which was formed in 1835.  The history of Enochville school began sometime after the establishment of Saint Enoch Church. In 1899 an academy for high school students was established. The academy had the distinction of being the first high school in the state of North Carolina. A public school was then started shortly after the turn of the century. In 1936 the first building on the present location of Enochville School was constructed. The building was a one-story structure made of gray granite. This school contained grades kindergarten through five. Other buildings were added in 1941, 1950, 1954 and lastly in 1976. In the fall of 1997, a completed school bond project contributed to a renovation and relocation of some classrooms and offices within the school. Enochville is a small community school that continues to serve students in kindergarten through grade five.
