Landis Elementary School is located in the town of Landis in southern Rowan County. Landis and the surrounding towns were formerly a part of a major textile industry. The new NC Research Campus will be located in the neighboring city of Kannapolis. Landis Elementary School began in a small wooden building in the early 1900s and expanded to a brick building located on Zion Street in 1923. Construction for a new facility was complete in 1977 and the transfer was made to the new school which included part of the old Aggrey Memorial High School. The fifth grade hall and gymnasium are from the original structure. Additions and improvements in 1996 and 2002 have added 2 classrooms and a new Kindergarten building which also houses Title I, Music and a K/1 Computer Lab. As a feeder school to Corriher-Lipe Middle School and South Rowan High School, Landis Elementary strives to provide an academic and social foundation to ensure student success and enable them to compete in a globally challenging society.
