Here are events to remember:

March 13th- Dress as your favorite Character
**Early Release date March 28
Spring Break: March 29 - April 5

When working with your children please practice:

-Letters: We have learned all letters now.
-Numbers: 0-15 and how to make sets up to ten. When you are talking about writing numbers past ten please refer to the nember in the tens place as "1 group of ten and 3 more" for them to write 13.  We are going to start comparing shape (flat, 2d) vs. solids (3d).
-Science: We will be digging deeper into weather.  With the way it is right now we can talk about all weather types.
-Social Studies- We will discuss seasons as well as continue to talk about maps and globes.

The most important thing you can do for your child is to read with them and talk to them!!   We will be working with predictable books.  Please help your child fill out their reading logs so they can earn a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.  Asking the question and writing a responce is the most important part.

We have started sight word rings.  These rings will be in your childs notebook nightly.  Use them as flash cards to help them learn these words.

Please review the rules with them and talk about their day.  We are going to be using The Seven Habits Of Happy Kids, starting this month.  I will send home someways to talk to your child about the stories we read and the "big idea".  The first concept we are going to focus on is being proactive.  Since the book is broke down in 3 steps we are going back to the old behavior plan because it is all about helping myself.  The first three concepts will last for the month of January and then the next three will focus on teamwork.  This is new to me but I feel it maybe exactly what we need in our class.  No class is the same nor is every child.  This year I have had to step out of my usual repertoire of tricks and learn some new ones.  Thank you for always showing support!

I can see the benifits of the 7 Habits and have now added "Class DoJo".  If you have not given me an email address please do so.  You can get a better insight as to your childs behavior.  You will get a nightly report if you give me any email account you have.  You can log on throughout the day and see how your child is doing.  I will start sending weekly rports on Friday in agendas.  50% is good.  That means they have had issues but have tried to make up for it.  75% is great and 100% is the goal.  I guess the best way to line it up with our number system is:

  1%- 20% = 1
21%- 44% = 2
45%- 64% = 3
65%- 84% = 4
85%- 100%= 5

Please let me know about any concerns you have!!!
