Welcome to our Classroom Webpage! I am so excited that I am your child's teacher this year. Kindergarten is an exciting year that is filled with enormous growth, both academically and socially. I am looking forward to helping your child reach his/her potential. Your child should be getting adjusted to our schedule at this time. Please feel free to email me with any concerns that you may have. We are looking forward to a productive year.
Math:
In math we are practicing counting to 25 and beyond, and writing numbers 0-10 at this time. We are learning to represent a number of objects with a written numeral also. We are learning different ways to represent a number. The children have been excited to explore their world and all the shapes around us. We encourage you to help your child find shapes in your home environment as well. The kindergarten shapes that we are learning include square, rectangle, circle, triangle and hexagon.
Reading:
In Reading we are learning all of our letter sounds while using our Zoophonic Reading Program. Please practice letter sounds with your child every night for homework. We are also learning many "book and print" awareness skills. We are learning the difference between letters and numbers. We are also learning that letters make up words. We have been practicing finding the first and last letter of a word, as well as the first and last word of a sentence. The boys and girls are really enjoying listening to a variety of stories and answering comprehension questions. Our class is focusing on rhyming words and fairy tales at this time.

Writing:
We are learning to write our names "the kindergarten way", forming each letter correctly. We are also focusing on drawing a detailed illustration. We participate in "Writer's Workshop" every day.
