Section 1 - Returning Substitutes
Beginning June 1, 2013, Returning active substitutes must complete “ALL” forms enclosed in their packet and read the online substitute information to complete their renewal for the 2013-2014 school year.
Return completed forms to the Ellis Street office no later than June 28th. Substitutes are held responsible for all guidelines and policies listed below. Please submit the “Sign Off Form” verifying that you have read and understand RSS guidelines.

(Monday-Thursday: 7:30 am-4:30 pm beginning June 10, 2013)

Section 2- Requirements and Hiring Process for New Substitutes
Application does not guarantee employment with the Rowan-Salisbury School System
- Completion of a minimum of 48 semester hours with at least a 2.0 GPA or hold a 2-year associates degree or higher.

Complete Effective Teacher Training offered at most area community colleges.
- (Note: This requirement is for NON-CERTIFIED APPLICANTS ONLY. Training must be completed prior to submitting an application with the Rowan-Salisbury School System.)
- Documentation of completion must be provided.

- RECEIVE APPROVAL FROM HUMAN RESOURCES (Upon approval, applicants will be notified by phone and/or email of further requirements. Ex. Transcripts, Health, Drug and TB Test and Background Authorization Form)
- Attend RSS Substitute Orientation
