Rowan-Salisbury School System Student Transfer Information

Parents/Guardians Living Outside of Rowan County and Seeking Admission to Rowan-Salisbury Schools

• Submit a release application to the school system in which the student’s family is domiciled.  (Please contact the releasing system for their form used for requests.)

• Submit an acceptance application (available on Transfer Forms page) to Rowan-Salisbury Schools, which will be processed by the Student Transfer Coordinator.   An acceptance would be contingent upon a release from the other school system and would be due to our Central Office before attendance could begin in the Rowan-Salisbury School System.

• Pay tuition charge equal to the Rowan-Salisbury Schools per pupil local support for education in the previous school year.  Payment may be made in lump sum or by semester, with either being received in advance of the student’s start date.  (Timeline to be established prior to the start of each academic year.)

• Submit these requests on an annual basis during the Spring Transfer Window.

NOTE:  Tuition is not charged for Rowan County taxpayers or Rowan-Salisbury School employees.

In the event of a denial the parent may follow the appeal process outlined in the denial letter.  Only the reason and documentation on the original transfer application will be used during the appeal process.

Parents/Guardians Living Inside of Rowan County and Seeking Admission to Another School System:

• Submit a release application (available on Transfer Forms page) to Rowan-Salisbury Schools.  The release is contingent upon acceptance of the new school system.

• Submit an acceptance application to the school system the family wishes student to attend.  (Please contact the receiving system for their form used for requests.)

• Both school systems must agree in order for the decision to be final and must be on file in the RSS Central Office before a release can be finalized.

• Submit these requests on an annual basis during the Spring Transfer Window.

In the event of a denial the parent may follow the appeal process outlined in the denial letter.  Only the reason and documentation on the original transfer application will be used during the appeal process.
