21st Century Skills - 21st Century Classrooms
Students who are now in school will have jobs that have not even been thought of yet. How are we preparing them for the jobs of the future? What types of technology is available to them in the school system?
Starting in the 2007-2008 school year, the Rowan-Salisbury School System began implementing a 21st Century Model Classroom Teacher program. Based on an application and interview process, teachers from across the district were selected to be a part of the program. Teachers in program receive extensive professional development in order to prepare them to use the technology tools and resources they are provided by the program.
All 21st century model classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, MacBook carts, student response systems, document cameras, video cameras, digital cameras, and iPod touch or iPad carts. Teachers in the program are also provided opportunities to attend state and national conferences. Many of the programs teachers have been selected to also present at these conferences.
