RTI in Rowan County
Responsiveness to Instruction (RtI) is an educational initiative to aid students using data-based decision-making, high quality instruction, and research-based interventions.A student with academic delays or behavior problems is given several research-based interventions.
The student’s academic progress is monitored frequently to see if those interventions are sufficient. The interventions are modified based on ongoing data collection/analysis.
RTI allows schools to intervene early to meet the needs of struggling learners. RTI maps out specific instructional strategies found to benefit a particular student. Information that is gathered and used to make decision is more parent/teacher friendly than methods used in the past.
Parent Testimonial
The RtI process was helpful with my children's education. It allowed them to get extra help during the school day and they didn't miss out on anything. They were helped in small groups where they are more comfortable. As a parent, it allowed me to be involved with the meetings and I knew how to help them at home." Kelly Seamon
Teacher Testimonial
"I think RtI has made a world of difference in our school this year. I've seen students who were struggling at the beginning of the year now able to do on-grade level work. It catches those students who in the past have always fallen "between the cracks." Donna Trick, Lead Teacher at Rockwell Elementary
