Earned Leave

Annual Vacation Leave is earned at the following rates per month for full-time employees:

  • Eligible part-time permanent employees earn leave equal to their percentage of full-time employment
  • One day sick leave earned per month
  • Teachers earn two days personal leave per year
  • 10 paid holidays per year

NC State Employees’ Credit Union

Besides very competitive services, the State Employees’ Credit Union also offers STAR Mortgage:

  • New employees (one year or less) of the Rowan-Salisbury School System are eligible
  • 100% financing to purchase a home, plus up to $1,500 for closing costs
  • 2-year Adjustable Rate Mortgage for up to 30 years at 5.25%, up to 15 years at 5.25%
  • Interest paid on escrow accounts
  • No private mortgage insurance required
  • Origination fee of ¾% of the loan amount, up to a maximum of $750
  • Available at any of the SECU branches statewide.

  • Mentors and support teams for Initially Licensed Teachers
  • New Teacher Induction Program
  • Individual classroom assistance with classroom management, motivating students, teaching strategies and techniques
  • Monthly meetings for Initially Licensed Teachers
  • Support with effective planning, instruction and assessment
  • Familiarity with system-wide goals and objectives, curriculum alignment and resources.
