Enroll Your Child in RSSS

Enroll Your Child in RSSS

We want to make it easy for you to enroll your child(ren) in RSSS.

Here’s how our enrollment works:

Which School Will My Child Attend?

Information on school assignment for a specific address can be obtained by accessing the Find Your School, calling the Student Assignment Office at 704-630-6034 or contacting a nearby school.

What do I Need to Know To Enroll My Child?

North Carolina public schools serve every child who comes to their doors, as long as that child is 5 years old on or before August 31st .  All Rowan-Salisbury Schools students must reside with a parent or court-appointed legal guardian who is a district resident.

Students new to RSSS will need to bring the following to their school’s registration office, regardless of the student’s grade level (the same information is needed to enroll new kindergarten students):

  • Certified Birth Certificate
  • Immunization Records - proof of immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, mumps, and red and German measles.  Certain exemptions are possible for extenuating health or religious reasons.
  • Health Assessment - proof of a current physical examination when enrolling in North Carolina schools for the first time - Student Health Form
  • Proof of Residency - one of the following documents may be used to establish residency per RSSS Board of Education:
  1. Current utility bills
  2. Social Services financial assistance documentation
  3. Current lease agreements or current rent receipts
  4. Current contractor agreement/loan agreement for a primary residence with verification of utility bill to follow.
  5. Valid Driver's License
  6. Property owner verifies that person is living at the domiciled address.  **Owner of property must complete a signed affidavit about where the child lives.  This form is available at the school.
