E3 – Extraordinary Education Every Day
I am thrilled to be presenting the Rowan-Salisbury School System’s 2014-2017 Strategic Plan. This is the plan that maps out the district’s direction over the next several years that will equip our students with the necessary learning experience, tools and skills they will need to be successful in the future.
Approximately six months prior to the May 13, 2014 release of our new Strategic Plan, a committee of parents, students, teachers, principals, community members, school board members and school administrators began extensive work analyzing a wide variety of data. They looked at survey results, student performance, demographics, enrollment, graduation and dropout rates, poverty, in addition to examining the challenges faced by public education including teacher turnover. The results across the board were unified that we needed to develop a focus on two main areas ~ Literacy and Student Engagement.
From that point forward, additional meetings expanded the plan to include the System Priorities, Motto, and our Goals, Strategies, and Benchmarks to ensure that we remain on track to reach all our goals by 2017.
The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education adopted the Strategic Plan in April 2014.
The transformation that our plan demands is exciting as it challenges teachers to deliver instruction differently to our students. This is an exciting challenge that will change the culture of instruction and guide our students to a point where they are fully engaged, thinking critically and collaborating with other students to apply real-world meaning to their learning. This is impacted to a higher level learning through the implementation of our technology plan with the goal of providing every student with a laptop or iPad.
Our core business is teaching and learning. Thank you for your support as we surge forward in providing that “Extraordinary Education Every Day” for our children.
