School Nurse Services

School Nurse Assignments

School nurses manage the care of students with special health care needs and chronic illnesses who are entering our school daily. Education regarding disease and injury prevention is a part of the school nurses role.

The school nurses serve grades Pre-K through 12 on an average of once a week at each assigned school site. Services offered may include the following:

• Assessment of the health needs of students and staff.
• Makes referrals as needed.
• Seeks resources for those needing financial assistance for their health needs.
• Assists in the control of communicable diseases through the monitoring of student records for compliance with current immunization laws.
• Health counseling for chronic illness, nutrition, disease prevention and healthy lifestyles.
• Develops Individual Health Plans and Emergency Action Plans for students with health conditions.

Intervention Specialists

Our performance and responsibilities include providing education and/or intervention concerning the following topics, but not limited to these topics:

Counselors

To promote school success for all students by assisting with academic, career, and personal/social development.

Program Planning establishes the school-counseling program and develops activities and resources to implement and evaluate the program.

Counseling provides individual and group counseling services to meet the development, preventive and remedial needs of students.

Consulting with students, teachers, and other school and community personnel to assist in meeting the needs of students.

Coordinating all counseling services for students and assists with the coordination and implementation of student services in the school.

Student appraisal accurately interprets test results and other student data.

Professional practicing and development adheres to ethical standards of the counseling profession, and abides by the laws, policies, and procedures that govern the schools.
