Mission

The mission of the Ethan H. Shive Elementary School media center is to assist students and staff in preparing for the 21st century by:

providing ready access to information and information sources
creating information-literate members of society
nurturing the enthusiasm for reading for both informational and recreational purposes
promoting life-long learning and information seekers

Hours of Operation

The media center is open to students and staff at 7:35. The media center is on a flexible schedule where students are encouraged to visit the media center at any time during the school day for book exchange.

Checkin and Checkout Procedures

Students in kindergarten and first grade check out one book. Second, third, fourth, and fifth graders may check out two books. Students are encouraged to return books within one week. Because our media center schedule is flexible, students may exchange books daily.

Lost and Damaged Books

Please return damaged books to the media center as soon as possible. It may be possible that these can be fixed without charging a fee. If books are beyond repair, a fee will be charged to replace the book. If you feel that you have lost a book, please contact Mrs. Drye. More than likely the book has been "misplaced" and not actually lost. We can make arrangements to pay for this book at a later date.

Overdue Books

The media center does not charge fees for overdue books. However, fees are charged for lost or damaged books.
