Presentation Mode vs. Design Mode

When you want to present a lesson or a flipchart, you want to be in Presentation Mode

Design mode is used when you are creating your flipcharts to make things easier. The reason you may want to use this mode is that it disables the actions (things will not move around your page while you are trying to control them, hyperlinks will not work). You need to remember to switch to Presentation Mode when you present your flipcharts or you will fell as though your flipcharts are not working. This is a big mistake people make. They go to use their flipchart and decide that there are problems with the software when they are in presentation mode.

You do not need to be in design mode when creating flipcharts. As a matter of fact, it is often recommended that teachers do not use design mode until they are comfortable creating flipcharts. This is due to the fact that teachers can see the action they are creating during the presentation process.
