NC DPI – Parents & Public- This web-page represents one of the many state-wide initiatives to educate, inform, and advocate for strengthening the role of parents, families, and communities as involved, enabled, and empowered leaders, decision-makers, teachers, volunteers, and experts about their children and the needs of the communities. If we are to leave no child behind, we must bring every parent, family and community along.

North Carolina’s Exceptional Children's Parent Center - ECAC is North Carolina’s Parent Center and is committed to improving the lives and education of ALL children. Established in 1983, ECAC offers a variety of projects and services designed to meet the needs of NC parents, families, students, educators, and other professionals.

US Department of Education - Information from the US Department of Education offering information on No Child Left Behind, paying for school, and other topics relevant to federal policy and educating children.

National PTA - As the largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) reminds our country of its obligations to children and provides parents and families with a powerful voice to speak on behalf of every child while providing the best tools for parents to help their children be successful students. PTA does not act alone. Working in cooperation with many national education, health, safety, and child advocacy groups and federal agencies, the national PTA organization collaborates on projects that benefit children and that bring valuable resources to its members.

The National Parenting Center - The National Parenting Center was founded in July of 1989 with the intention of providing the most comprehensive and responsible parenting advice to parents everywhere. The advice provided is furnished by some of the world's most respected authorities in the field of child rearing and development. The National Parenting Center has been authorized to dispense this valuable information, which has been provided by these experts, to as many parents as possible through whatever means possible. To that end, The National Parenting Center created and maintains interactive systems allowing parents to access the expert panel. Additionally, parents may obtain the advice of the experts through written transcripts, letters, brochures, newsletters, the Internet, etc.

Awesome Library for Parents - The Awesome Library provides only resources that have been reviewed and found to be of high quality for our users. In that sense, all of the resources are highly rated at the time of review. In order to be included in the Awesome Library, resources need to meet all of these standards: Only child-safe links, Useful for teachers, students ("kids" or "teens"), parents, or librarians, "Real Stuff" (Actual documents, projects, pictures, and discussion groups), Current, Load quickly, Small percentage of "dead" links,and Best version available.

Scholastic - This site provides hints and tips for school and learning, books and reading, family life and has activities you can do with your child. The broad variety of this site will appeal to all.

Reading Rockets - Reading Rockets offers a wealth of reading strategies, lessons, and activities designed to help young children learn how to read and read better. Our reading resources assist parents, teachers, and other educators in working with struggling readers who require additional help in reading fundamentals and comprehension skills development.

Random House - This site offered by one of the largest publishers of children's books gives activities and several sites about books or movies kids are interested in. A great way to get your student hooked on a series. Also has a section for Teens!

Book Adventure - Book Adventure is a FREE reading motivation program for children in grades K-8. Children create their own book lists from over 7,000 recommended titles, take multiple choice quizzes on the books they've read, and earn points and prizes for their literary successes. Book Adventure was created by and is maintained by Sylvan Learning.

Reading is Fundamental - Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. prepares and motivates children to read by delivering free books and literacy resources to those children and families who need them most. This site has many tips and suggestions on making your child a successful reader from motivating kids to read to tips on choosing good books you will find this information helpful.

Learn to Read at Starfall - Primarily for first grade this web site and printed materials are perfect for bolstering the instruction your child receives at school or helping them advance their reading skills.

National GeographicThis is a quality site providing interactive displays and wonderful images about the world around us. It includes a kids section specifically with interest for children.

Dr. LeBeau’s Just for Parents - Provides links to sites of interest just to parents.
